Micro-current Electro Therapy (MET) is a form of electro-medicine. Although electro-medicine has been around for over a thousand years, recent developments in electronics and research have seen this technology grow at a terrific rate. MET differs from traditional Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in that it produces benefits in part on a cellular level. MET has longer-lasting effects than TENS and is also known as Micro-TENS.The concept behind MET is based on Arndt’s Law, which states that weak stimuli excite physiological activity, while medium-strength stimuli encourage it, and strong stimuli suppress it. Micro-TENS and MET are used directly on a muscle to break down knots and fatigue in the muscle. The pulses are short, and the frequency is slow, like CES for pain. For many years, the standard protocol for MET has been to use a fixed frequency of 0.5 Hz. However, Heffernan's research in 1997 found that randomised stimulation from 0.5-3 Hz produced superior results. Dual randomised low-frequency stimulation is used in our Oasis Pro device, which delivers MET at approximately 500 micro-amps in the 0.5 to 3 Hz range, making it highly effective for treating pain.
MET has become increasingly popular in recent years because of its non invasive nature and proven effectiveness in pain relief. The use of MET is safe, and it has no known side effects. MET has been shown to produce long lasting results by stimulating the body's natural healing processes on a cellular level.
Patients who suffer from chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and migraines have reported significant pain relief after using MET therapy. MET is also known to improve muscle function and increase range of motion in patients who suffer from muscle stiffness and soreness.MET is a promising form of electro-medicine that has been proven to be highly effective in pain relief. With new advancements in technology, MET has become safer and more reliable, making it an attractive option for patients seeking non invasive pain relief. If you are suffering from chronic pain conditions or muscle stiffness, you may want to consider the possibility of using MET therapy.
